I have always been inspired by the beauty of difference in all of us and the construct puts words to the differences. The Enneagram has helped me relate, grow, see blind spots and love deeper. We truly are unique hues on a spectrum of humanity and I admire the variety. The function of yellow isn't the same as red, but we need them both the same. My hope is that as you view these portraits you see the strengths that we all carry, and when misunderstanding arises we can begin to see through the lens of our brothers and sisters.
Type 1’s are very near and dear to my heart, they posses so much strength and a strong sense of right and wrong. I love the filter that this type sees the world through. They are able to discern what’s best for the moment and long-term (and knowing how to communicate that well is a massive help to an indecisive 9 like me!)
Before we go any further, let’s hear a little more about this type and what color they bring to the world.
White is considered to be the color of perfection. I wanted a color that would communicate a message that was simple, clean, and perfect.
These types have a strong sense of right and wrong. They see the world in black and white — in their growth they begin to live in the grey and lead people with grace and understanding.
Josiah is an Enneagram type 1. He is an incredible leader, the life of the party, and an artist. He uses his strengths for the improvement of his craft, community, and the things he is given authority over.
One thing I love most about The Enneagram is how much it allows room for each individual to express themselves. The Enneagram allows insight into why people do what they do. When you fully understand what the purpose is, it removes any possible stereotyping. It is a guide for basic motivations and desires. It also leads us to more self-awareness in levels of health, and to become the best possible versions of ourselves.
basic fear &
The Perfectionists basic fear is of being corrupt/evil, defective and their desire is to be good, to have integrity and to be balanced.
Within the Enneagram Personality Construct the 9 types are segmented into 3 instinctual patterns. These explain how people are led — by their head, heart, or gut. The Type 1 is led by their gut, which also places them in the anger triad.
I would encourage you to research as much as you can. There are layers upon layers in the Enneagram. I’m just beginning to scratch the surface and have found so much value in understanding myself and others better. Listen to podcasts, read books, watch videos — whatever you do, become as self-aware of health so you can become the best version of yourself and understand others more fully.
